(No, it’s not your eyes. I think this picture IS ACTUALLY BLURRY. Sorry.) This was the beginning of my "Quilting Therapy" experience. I started quilting the same month I started on the Guaifenesin protocol. I KNEW I WAS GOING TO HAVE TO BE DISTRACTED WITH SOMETHING I LOVED during the initial increase in fms symptoms in order to “be strong and of good courage.” I made this log-cabin squares (I use the word square loosely!) "throw" for my husband as a surprise birthday present for him. Up to this point, he had been bathing me and washing my long hair, so doing ANYTHING on my own was an extreme challenge. I cried in pain and screamed in frustration and poked my fingers with pins countless times from unsteady hands and blurred vision! After 15 months, I completed the quilt top! The fibrofog was soooo intense that I had to ruin the surprise by asking my husband help me put the top, batting and backing together. Actually, I think my husband enjoyed assisting with the finishing touches. He was so impressed with my determination to accomplish this huge task that I think he actually had tears in his eyes! He uses his quilt almost every day and cherishes it beyond measure.
