Physical Demands

Uh, “exercise?”  No thanks.  But “play outside”...

yeah, I’ll go for that!

From gardening to field mowing to building things to watering flowers

to raising animals for work, enterprise and food,

your life is about to change

FOR THE BETTER.

Here are some “fun time” things I am able to do in my physically debilitated state, depending on the day:

  • Excellent Day
    • Open the blinds and welcome nature (no matter what sort of day I’m having!)
    • DANCE AND SING TO MY FAVORITE MUSIC while cleaning stuff, inside (windows open... even in the winter!) or outside
    • “Hike” through the acreage on unleveled ground (dogs unleashed but training collars on)
      • wear (at least) gardening gloves and carry a water bottle
      • pile up twigs/sticks to be hauled to the burning pile
      • put that “pooper scooper” to use!
    • Hang the clean laundry outside to dry (mmmm... can you smell those sheets?)
    • Snowshoe or, someday when I’m stronger, cross-country ski
    • Clean my car
    • Mow the field or help snowplow
  • Good Day
    • Walk the gravel road with the dogs unleashed (training collars on) and push forward on my distance goal
      • Sometimes us a walking stick, sometimes not
      • Visit with neighbors I meet along the road (time is no of no concern)Play “soccer” with my Service Dog to give him and me some leg exercise
    • Clean out the chicken nesting boxes
    • Sit at the picnic table writing letters or “thinking of you” cards of encouragement
  • Fair Day
    • Maybe get dressed, maybe not.  Walk along the road (with Service Dog on leash for better balance) but not too far to make it back without causing anxiety!
    • Visit the chickens.
      • Pick up a hen and pet her/ coo to her.
      • Wear a simple apron (maybe one I sewed myself!) with many soft pockets for placing my collected eggs
    • Sit in my yard swing by the creek
  • Rotten Day
    • AVOID ANXIETY AND DEPRESSION!  Try to relax in each moment.  Take RX medication as needed. Read a good book (the Bible, for instance.)  Watch a good movie. Sit in a lawn chair if it’s warm enough outside. Cuddle with the kitty. Engage in my Service Dog.  Be thankful for the peace, quiet, serenity, clean air, etc.
