One of the biggest and healthiest lifestyle changes my husband and I made was to leave the city life (“rat race”) and THRIVE in the small town/county life. Please see “Country Living” under the page entitled “Beyond Disaster Survival.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Be honest: are you doing EVERYTHING YOU CAN to reduce stress and give yourself the QUALITY of life possible for all of us, at least in America?
Here are just a few questions for you to ponder:
- If you are a Christian (SERVANT of Christ Messiah), the first and foremost issues are:
- Do you set everything in your world beneath your love for/desire to please your God? This illness is no accident. The God of the Bible allows things to happen that we can’t understand. Remember, His ways are not our ways! Give this debilitation to Him and look forward to Him doing great things with it for His glory!
- Are you repeating sins in your life? Repent (turn away from them.) Humble yourself to the LORD. Thank God that, when our hearts are right with Him, we are in good fellowship with THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS! Wow...
- Do you pray throughout the day? TALK TO GOD; He’s available 24/7! He loves to hear you talk and He longs for you to listen to Him.
- Do you read and ponder the Holy Scriptures daily or almost daily, even if just one sentence? (my recommendation is the King James Version as my husband and I believe, after much searching and studying, it is the best (most accurate) English version available. Do use other study tools (see our page for references)
- Do you smoke, drink alcohol and/or diet soda, eat poorly (junk food, fatty-high carbohydrate foods?)
- If your body requires a special diet, are you sticking to it?
- Are you drinking at least 8-10 8 oz glasses of GOOD, CLEAN WATER each day? (Hint: just because it’s bottled water doesn’t mean it’s GOOD CLEAN water!)
- Are you forcing yourself to go outside in the sunshine for at least 20 minutes per day (yes, in your pj’s is fine. NO, sunglasses are NOT OK. Vitamin D requires our exposure to sunlight (via our eyes) in order to be absorbed/feed our bodies.)
- Do you have a regular bedtime conducive to rest:
- Do you eat a light, easily-digestable dinner @ late afternoon or very early evening?
- Do you not drink stimulants after dinner?
- Do you provide for yourself a relaxing atmosphere (no loud, tense movies, visitors, discussions, etc) in order to prepare you for bedtime?
- Is your sleep area removed from the noise in the home?
- Is your bed reasonably comfortable (add pillows, blankets, foam, etc for increased softness for our weary tissues.)
- Have you seriously examined your living situation?
- Is your home full of tension, anxiety, maybe hostility, or PRETENSE that all is (basically) well?
- Are you exposing yourself to allergens?
- Have you made some friends whom you can call to visit with/maybe try to meet for tea or coffee @ the spur of the moment?
- Are you carrying someone else’s responsibilities/burdens?
- Are you willing to give up status quo in order to put yourself in a setting that is more inviting and nurturing to you
- cut out some t.v. and exercise [go for a walk] instead
- turn a rarely used room into your “haven of rest” where you have privacy to do good things FOR YOU
- take the plunge from city survival to county LIVING (see under “Beyond Disaster Survival” pages)
- Do you “journal” in order to vent/get stuff off your chest/measure your growth?
