Simply put: IT TAKES GUTS.
Most of the world’s population lives in cities... concrete jungles where people are COMPLETELY DEPENDENT on “the powers that be” for their daily functioning. Just “morphing” from city folk to country bumpkins requires much study, determination and a firm belief that YOU ARE DOING THE RIGHT THING. Be ready for HUGE CRITICISM from those around you who don’t have the TRUE GRIT to do what you are thinking about doing.
Ask yourself a few basic questions:
- What would you do if the electricity was shut off for 1 month?
- THINK!!! Really THINK!!!
- How dependent are you on electricity?
- How do you get your drinking water?
- How does your sewer system work?
- Where do you get your food?
- How do you refrigerate/cook it?
- How do you call for emergency help?
- How do you react in an extended crisis?
- How do your neighbors, family, coworkers and nearby criminals react in a disastrous situation?
- What do you do when thieves show up?
- Where do you get your medication and other essentials?
- What will you use for transportation?
- What will service providers use? (Your garbage man, the mailman, etc)
- What will you do for income/a profession if you leave the city?
- Can you financially provide for yourself and your dependents “in the sticks?”
- What do you believe about neighbors and how can you help others?
- Do you WANT to help others? Do you see any value in it?
